It wasn't until 1957 with the Pipeline Debate and the fall of the government that he really became a politician in the normal sense of the word. He had to sort of learn that mode of behaviour all over again. Well, he never had learned it, he'd only studied it. I mean, he worked for King, he watched King in operation, he watched St. Laurent who was a gentleman and a lawyer and a sort of "Uncle Louis" who wasn't really partisan in his conduct. So, he'd had little training in this field and he had to begin when he became the leader.
